PÁJAROS EN LA CABEZA is Sergio Prieto’s most intimate and poetic collection to date.
Its origin lies in a phrase he often heard during his childhood and early years as an artist: “You’ve got birds in your head.” It was said of him as if living among one’s own ideas and images meant being distracted from the world.
Over time, Sergio has made that phrase the starting point of his work. The birds that once lived only in his imagination now find a way to emerge into the outside. Each painting opens a window to a universe between dream and reality, populated by characters of distinct identities who appear in unexpected settings. Their encounters suggest stories, while leaving space for the viewer to imagine their own.
